Asset Overview

Two of the three fruits have holes. These come from an curculio glandium, known as the acorn weevil. The females use their trunks to eat deep holes in unripe acorns and then lay one or two eggs in the fruit. After about two weeks the larvae hatch. When the acorns were transported, they fell out of their fruit cups and were glued on before capturing (glue remains are visible).
