The plant pot is a photogrammetry reconstruction done in Meshroom. The holes in the mesh were a lucky accident, I guess. Seems to work well.

I processed the mesh and generated the grass in Houdini. The grass is somewhat stylized and doesn't have a material. Only vertex colors.
