Asset Overview
This fruit pod comes from the *Hymenaea courbaril*, a tree found throughout the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. This tree is also referred to as the "West Indian locust" or "stinking toe" tree. The name of "stinking toe" comes from the earthy smell of the tree's edible pods. The pulp of the fruit pods have a sweet taste despite their slight odor and are consumed raw. It can also be dried and transformed into a powder, able to be combined into cookies, crackers, and soups.
