Köppen climate classification

The Köppen climate classification is the most widely used system to catalog climate types in the world. Areas are divided into five main climate groups, with each group being divided based on seasonal precipitation and temperature patterns. Each group and subgroup is represented by a letter. All climates are assigned a main group (the first letter): * (A) Tropical * (B) Dry * (C) Temperate * (D) Continental * (E) Polar These classifications are then further divided into finer units. E.g. *Csa* equals temperate, dry summer, hot summer climate. The model shows climate classification at a 1km resolution 1980–2016. Dataset by Beck, H.E., N.E. Zimmermann, T.R. McVicar, N.
