Asset Overview

MR36C - Stacked fluvial channel-belt successions in the Aptian Marizal Fm. Each of these 3 successions, exposed on this 25 to 35 m high sandstone walls, is separeted by regional scale, nearly horizontal erosional surfaces, evidenced by local concentrations of gravel-grade mudstone intraclasts (often eroded). Individual channel-belt successions are internally constituted of cross-stratified cosets, interpreted as thalweg and large-scale sand bar deposits. More information, see Almeida et al. (2016), Reconstructing fluvial bar surfaces from compound cross‐strata and the interpretation of bar accretion direction in large river deposits, Sedimentology, 63, 609-628.
