Asset Overview

Hand sample of a xenolith-bearing basanite lava from Arizona. The basanite (grey) hosts large, sub-angular xenoliths of peridotite (green). All light-green xenoliths are dunites made up of ~100% olivine. The mixed light and dark green xenoliths are wehrlites made-up of olivine (light green) and clinopyroxene (very dark green). The small, rounded dark-brown xenolith is orthopyroxenite, made up of orthopyroxene.
