Plain Xenops *Xenops minutus* [MLZ 44043](https://arctos.database.museum/guid/MLZ:Bird:44043) 9 March 1946 Palenque Chiapas, Mexico Collected by Mario Del Toro Aviles Physical specimen held by the Moore Laboratory of Zoology, Occidental College, Los Angeles, CA Xenops are a member of the family Furnariidae, which is host to a great array of neotropical species. Xenops are small, nuthatch-like birds with short upturned bills. The Plain Xenops is the least-marked of the Xenops, but is the most widely distributed, ranging from Mexico to the atlantic forests of Southeast Brazil.
