A lesser-known species, the Rufous Casiornis is one of two species belonging to the genus *Casiornis*. Little information is known about this species, but it is generally considered an Austral Migrant, meaning they breed in temperate regions of South America and migrate north for winter (as opposed to the birds in North America, which migrate south for winter).
