Asset Overview
These rocks are part of the Lakes Marble Formation in the Connemara Dalradian rocks. Beds in this outcrop vary in composition from marble-schist-quartzite-metavolcanics. Intrusion of the Omey Granite to the north has led to contact metamorphism, and the marble layers often contain garnet porphyroblasts.
