Spotted Barbtails are unassuming members of the family Furnariidae, with sharply pointed tails and an overall brownish plumage. However, their nest-building behavior is very interesting. A study conducted by [Harold Greeney in 2008](https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Harold-Greeney/publication/228917410_Nest_construction_behavior_and_variability_in_nest_architecture_and_nest_placement_of_the_Spotted_Barbtail_Premnoplex_brunnescens/links/5411e8ed0cf2bb7347dadb4a/Nest-construction-behavior-and-variability-in-nest-architecture-and-nest-placement-of-the-Spotted-Barbtail-Premnoplex-brunnescens.pdf) brought light to the incredibly intricate process by which this species constructs its nest.
