Asset Overview
Outcrop of suevite from the Ries impact crater. Inactive quarry near Oberringingen, Germany. It looks like a pyroclastic breccia, complete with black obsidian bombs, but it is the product of a meteorite impact. It also contains limestone and gneiss fragments. Suevite is grey when fresh: yellowish areas indicate weathering. Outcrop is about 4 m tall.
