Relative dating rules of cross-cutting surface features provide guidelines for developing a chronology of events. This can be simply illustrated in the 3D model by considering the cross-cutting relationships between different snow tracks made by three cars, wolf and person. The same approach applied to landforms through detailed study of their geometry and pattern of hillslope steepness within and between them can provide useful age determination of related geological processes.
