This rock is comprised of large conspicuous orange and clear tinted crystals. These crystals are medium with most up to 0.08 inches (2 mm) in size and a fair amount of large crystals that exceed 0.16 inches (4 mm) in size. The crystals have been worn with time but occasional fresh crystal patches demonstrate cubic to near cubic crystal shapes. This rock is displays an orange and clear coloration however there are numerous other rocks of this type with different coloration. These rocks can be clear, white, pink, black, and even light blue colored. The coloration is dependent on other elements trapped within the crystals.
The rock is void of any type of fossils. The rock also doesn’t have any particular odor to it. This rock is very salty when tasted. When a drop of acid is placed on this rock there is no effervescence whatsoever.
