Asset Overview
This giant rock, located approximately 1200m down, off the coast of California near Monterey Bay rests in a rocky area called 'Sur Ridge.' It's covered with several species of deep sea coral and sponges. The rock is approximately 25m in length. Many of the corals are several hundred years old.
The images for this model were gathered by MBARI's deep sea ROV, 'Doc Ricketts.' There were approximately 7500 images used to render this model.
