Asset Overview

The human centromere protein B(CENP-B), one of the centromere components, specifically binds a 17 bp sequence(the CENP-B box), which appears in every other alpha-satellite repeat. This tour introduces the base recognition and DNA kinks of CENP-B. The crystal structure of CENP-B residuals is divided into 4 well-defined regions: the N-terminal arm(red), domin 1(yellow), the linker loop(limon) and domain 2(green); Nine out of 17 bp of the CENP-B box are essential for the recognition by CENP-B. These essential base pairs are located in 3 distinct regions(site 1, 2 and 3).
