Asset Overview
Spectacular fold overprinting patterns in layered gabbroic gneiss itself interlayered with strongly migmatitic monzogranitic gneiss. The earlier fold generation (F1) is best preserved in the layered metagabbro and is refolded by F2 folds forming a Type 2 interference pattern. F1 and F2 are overprinted by a younger fold generation (F3) that form open folds in the metagabbro and tight to isoclinal folds the migmatitic granitic gneiss. F3 form Type 3 fold interference patterns with the F2 folds. Migmatitic orthogneiss of the Biranup Zone, east Albany–Fraser Orogen, Western Australia.
