Asset Overview

This is a perfusion fixed whole human heart that was donated for research. The donor was a 72 year old female with an Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) caused by an unknown medical procedure, which is a hole in the wall that separates the right and left sides of the heart. For this model, the Right Atrium was opened to highlight the atrial septum, and the Right Ventricle was filled with foam to mimic being filled with blood. This heart uses reference ID: Heart0216. We partner with [LifeSource](https://www.life-source.org/) to receive donated organs deemed not viable for transplant.
