Fresh Research Human Heart #0604

This is a fresh human heart that was donated for research. Organ donations arrive into research labs fresh on ice, and then can be used for a variety of studdies or fixed for long term storage an use. Our lab uses a perfusion fixation method to preserve them in an end-diastolic state. This heart was donated from a 34 year old female with a history of pediatric asthma. The heart had its great vessels cannulated, the atria filled with yellow foam to show propper position, and was then suspended by aligator clips to capture in 3D.
