Asset Overview
The Nelson-class of Battleships was a class designed and built by the Royal Navy prior to WW2 under the conditions of the Washington Naval treaty. Two units were built, Nelson and Rodney, both laid down in 1922 and launched in 1925. They were two of the "big seven", seven warships armed with 16-inch guns which were allowed within the treaty. Since the displacement was limited, the more than unusual design was developed, saving heavy armour and therefore displacement. The design had several flaws and issues, yet the ships served in WW2 with no major problems, being the heaviest armed units the Royal Navy ever had in service. Rodney faced the last stand of the German Battleship Bismarck, which was the only ever encounter with a battleship for the whole class. After the war both units got scrapped since they were too slow, both were dismantled in 1948/49.
This model was made with the help of the US Navy Naval recognition manual and is intended to be printed at 1/4000 scale with a resin printer.
