Asset Overview

The Graf Zeppelin class of Aircraft carriers was the first, biggest and only class of carriers planned and built for the Kriegsmarine. Four ships were planned to be built, however only Graf Zeppelin got actually laid down in 1936 and got launched 1938. This aircraft carrier was based on the experience which Japan had gathered over the past years and was already highly capable for her time. However since the Graf Zeppelin was the only ship and WW2 showed that submarines were far more effective in merchant raiding, the building got stopped in 1940. Until the end of the war, Graf Zeppelin was nearly completed, but had to be given away to soviet forces which then scuttled her in firing tests. Since the ship never really saw service, the Naval recognition manual states that the appearance could change quite a bit. Photos showed how much the ship differed, however I modelled the state which the manual depicted. This is a model intended for resin 3D printing in the 1/4000 scale, hence the lack of detail.
