Asset Overview

Long runout landslide obstructing the valley (4.50N 44W) At this location, Shalbatana Valley is about 6 km wide. The valley cliff is about 1.7 km high. The lenght of the landslide, measured from the highest point to the furthest point of the deposit is about 12 km. The landslide generates from the collapse of the valley wall, with the development of a number of normal faults parallel to the cliff that accommodate the collapse and rotation of wall blocks (toreva blocks). At the bottom of the cliff, a debris apron, tens/hundred of meter thick, spread out and run upslope on the opposite valley slope.
