Asset Overview

Gypsum that was deposited during the Messinian salinity crisis. On the left side of the outcrop a well-developed cone is visible, made of individual selenite gypsum cristals up to 30 cm long which radiate upwards and outwards. Cuevas de Sorbas (a few meters from the cave entrance), Andalusia, Spain. Lat 37˚05'19.42''N, Lon 2˚06'27.68''W, elevation 340 m.
