Asset Overview

This is a plastinated human heart that was disected from a fixed human cadaver as a part of a cardiac anatomy course. This heart is from a patient with a cardiac history of hypertension (high blood pressure), hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol), a myocardial infarction (heart attack), atrial fibrillation, and heart failure. This heart has been dissected to show the ventricular anatomy while preserving the sub-valvular aparati. In addition the aorta has been partially dissected to show the aortic valve. This heart uses reference number CC30793. To learn more about cardiac anatomy, visit the [Atlas of Human Cardiac Anatomy](http://www.vhlab.umn.edu/atlas/index.shtml). We partner with the [University of Minnesota's Anatomy Bequest](https://med.umn.edu/research/anatomy-bequest-program) program to receive fresh and fixed cadavers for research.
