This is a plastinated human heart donated for research. Plastinated hearts are useful for education because they are preserved in a rigid form that will last for a long time and are safe to touch. This gives students a hands-on educational experience that they otherwise might not have until late in their career. The donor has an unknown medical history.
We partner with [LifeSource](https://www.life-source.org/) to receive donated organs deemed not viable for transplant.
