Asset Overview

**NASA JPL** decided to drill a second time into the rock nicknamed "Rochette" due to its unique geologic makeup, which includes salt minerals making it a good candidate as it's a good indicator of water, more important -- life. This model was created using 32 left/right Perseverance NAVCAM images, assembled into a mosaic and color graded using a "grey balance" process, then processed by Reality Capture to derive the 3D mesh and 8K texture. Further mesh decimation/refinement & re-UVEd in Blender 3.0 Alpha and then brought into 3D Coat to project 2D textures captured by the Watson camera of Rochette. The cloning tool was used to fill in areas not available from other images. SM4 Pro was used to create PBR textures for enhancing the surfaces and finally bringing in the animated Perseverance's drilling arm to reenact the process taken to create the 27mm holes in the rock.
