# Sensor Drone The huge cargo loads transported by space freighters often create ‘dead zones’ that prevent the crew from effectively seeing and responding to threats. To counteract this, freight ships usually carry a compliment of auxiliary drones. Using small maneuvering thrusters, the drones fly out and attach themselves to outer portions of the cargo load and serve to augment ship’s sensors, beacons, weaponry, etc. When required, the drones can fly back for an energy recharge from special sockets on the mother ship. A number of sensor drones like this one are deployed to far portions of the cargo to provide an improved view of the surrounding universe to the freighter transporting the load.
