This syenogranite is from part of the Bathurst Batholith in eastern New South Wales. Minerals present include quartz, orthoclase, plagioclase and very minor biotite. Being a syenogranite, orthoclase is the dominant feldspar present. The plagioclase in this specimen is quite altered and is greenish-brown in colour. The quartz is very dark for a granite, probably resulting from radiation from potassium and thorium contents causing a smoky colouration.
