Asset Overview

Triceratops means "three-horned face". Musée d'Histoire Naturelle (Brussels, Belgium). Made with ReMake and ReCap from AutoDesk. Triceratops is a genus of herbivorous ceratopsid dinosaur that first appeared during the late Maastrichtian stage of the late Cretaceous period, about 68 million years ago (mya) in what is now North America. It is one of the last known non-avian dinosaur genera, and became extinct in the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event 66 million years ago. It is one of the few ceratopsians that does not have windows in the neck frill, at the back of ther skull, to make it lighter. The length of the horns and the shape of the frill vary so much from one specimen to another that some skulls have been wrongly attributed to other species.
