Asset Overview

This is a perfusion fixed human heart that was donated for research. The donor was a 65 year old female with a history of hypertension (high blood pressure) and hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol). This heart has been dissected in the right ventricle to showcase the tricuspid valve. The valve annulus is the part of the valve that anchors the leaflets to the myocardium and separates the ventricles from the atria. The papillary muscles attach at the bottom of the valve and go to the ventricle walls to help open/close the valve. This heart uses reference ID: Heart0369. We partner with [LifeSource](https://www.life-source.org/) to receive donated organs deemed not viable for transplant.
