Asset Overview

The Type VII Submarine of the Kriegsmarine was one of the most feared units of the second world war and shaped both the war and the future of warfare. Being the most produced type of submarine, it was the weapon of choice for Germany. Being used in Wolfpacks it was highly effective in hunting nearly any opponent, even though each individual boat was weak and not able to fight fully alone. Merchant raiding was conducted over the entirety of the atlantic and even further, forcing all navies to guard their convoys and even heavily armed units. Several types were produced over the years, the most produced being the Type VII C. Until the end of the war, 703 units were produced in dockyards all over Germany. Most submarines never returned to shore, ebing built to only last a few patrols. Only one museum ship still exists, U 995 in Laboe, northern Germany. This model was made with the Naval recognition manual and is designed for 1/4000 scale printing.
