Asset Overview
The USS Enterprise CV-6 was the second unit of the Yorktown class, being laid down in 1934, launched in 1936 and being commissioned in 1938. She featured a sizeable airwing, capable crew and good speed, allowing her to fight more effectively than other classes.
When the Imperial Japanese Navy attacked the US and thus forced them to enter WW2, it was the task of the three Yorktowns to keep the Pacific under the control of the US. Enterprise saw heavy combat in the Coral Sea, yet her hardest fight would come at Midway. Within that battle she sank three enemy carriers, a record which couldnt be beaten until today. Even though her two sisterships were lost, the situation had been improved for the US.
Until the end of the war, Enterprise would become the most famoust and highest decorated vessel of any Navy, another record which couldnt be beaten. Once the war was over, attempts were made to keep her as a museum ship, which all failed. CV-6 was scrapped in 1960, her name given to CVN-65.
