Asset Overview
This monzogranite specimen is from the Carboniferous age Wuuluuman Monzogranite (I-type granite) pluton the the eastern Lachlan Orogen. Megacrystic K-feldspar (orthoclase in this case) is common in the Bathurst belt of granites, which is the youngest and most easterly in the orogen. Other minerals include quartz, hornblende, biotite and pale greenish plagioclase (colour imparted by minor secondary epidote alteration). Accessory phases include zircon, apatite, allanite and titanite (sphene).
