Asset Overview

The inferior fronto-occipital fasciculus (**IFOF**) is a large white matter tract which originates in the occipital and parietal lobes and terminates in the inferior frontal lobe. This white matter tract courses, along with the uncinate fasciculus, adjacent to the infero-lateral insula via the extreme and external capsules. While its role is primarily associated with semantic language processing and transmission, other studies have demonstrated that the IFOF connects the salience network to the executive control network, thus potentially playing an important role in goal-oriented behavior
