Assignment 3 : Decay and disruption

Assignment 3 extends the scale of investigation from the study of individual landscape elements (Assignment 1) and detailed cross-section documentation of a site (Assignment 2) to the larger context of the landscape system which the park sits in. In this assignment you are to investigate the topic of decay and disruption. Decay is defined as the ‘falling into disrepair or decline in quality’ of the landscape system. This could be a result of human or environmental change. In contrast, disruption - in the context of the assignment - refers to the concept of ‘to disrupt by design’ or put simply as maintenance. In your role as a landscape architect, you are tasked to identify 5 points of decay found along the site and disrupt the rate of decay of these landscape elements found along the site by proposing an intervention to impede its process.
