Asset Overview
Another example of the many Chateaux close to the Dordogne River.
It was built around 1490, for his wife, by the owner of the chateau de Castelnaud, beacause he considered the latter as unpractical and dark. Nice present !
It has been completed over the centuries, specially in the early 20th century when neo-gothic parts (such as the towers), and the French garden were added.
It was bought by Josephine Baker in 1947, and now hosts a permanent exhibition devoted to this artist.
Note : this is an updated version of this chateau, including the newly re-created garden.
