Asset Overview

"This stone was part of the Magdalene's Rectory & Halls, and sat above the entrance. The building stood in Well Road, Hawkhill. It was designed by the Rev E. Sugden and was demolished in 1996. The stone sat for many years under a big pile of other stone outside the sculpture department at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design until I found it. I chose it partly due to the colour of the sandstone and partly because of the changes the stone has already been through, with my sculpting changing it once again." Siobhan K Morison
