Asset Overview

This is a 3D model of “The Terme Boxer” attributed to Apollonius, and one of the few surviving bronze statues from the classical era. This muscular man is seated on a stone structure, wearing only boxing attire such as wraps for his hands and penis. The Terme Boxer represents a change in depicting heroic figures, from beautiful unburdened youth to a man beaten down by life yet still looking upwards, signaling changing virtues in the Mediterranean from purity to hardiness. **Selected Bibliography:** [Hemingway 2013](https://bit.ly/2Uvc5Q1); [_Khan Academy_](https://bit.ly/2UgKD9X) # Ancient World 3D This model posting is part of [Ancient World 3D](https://exhibits.ulib.iupui.edu/aw3d/items/show/9), a project that provides curated 3D open access content for Classical Studies.
