Asset Overview

The **Pincian Obelisk** is an Ancient Roman obelisk located on the *Pincian Hill* in Rome, Italy. The obelisk was commissioned by the emperor **Hadrian**. It is theorized that the obelisk was originally from the so-called *Antinoeion*, or tomb of Antinous, at **Hadrian's Villa** in Tivoli, or the city of **Antinopolis**, before being moved to Rome by **Elagabalus**. The obelisk was erected in its [present location](https://goo.gl/maps/URkue5teTYt) by **Pope Pius VII** in 1822.
