Subsequently, the second lighthouse was destroyed by high winds in 1774. The third tower once again burned down in 1783. A fourth, fifth, and sixth tower were of sub-par construction and were each condemned after wear and tear. By 1901, a seventh tower was constructed, which still stands today.
