Asset Overview

3D model of the Tabor castle ruin in Neusiedl am See. For a long time, the ruin was considered a Roman-era structure. In fact, the building dates back to the Middle Ages. There is no agreement about its exact function. Some consider it a royal residential castle, others a defense tower. In any case, the Tabor served as a defense in later times. In 1708 it was fortified with palisades and wooden posts, but it could not withstand the onslaught of the Kurucs (anti-Habsburg rebels in the Kingdom of Hungary). Today the ruin serves as a lookout tower with a magnificent view over the town of Neusiedl and the lake. The metal staircase and the railing were removed in the model. ![](https://burgenland.denkmal-3d.at/SF/tabor01.jpg) ![](https://burgenland.denkmal-3d.at/SF/tabor02.jpg)
