It has been thought that the figure group envisioned the two mythological twins Castor and Polydeukes. But there could also were talking about a more anonymous grave motive or a small altar? the subject is not unique. Sculpture Group is an example of how Roman sculptors copied sculptures by various Greek ideals and thereby created new motifs.
