Mid 17th C. transitional rapier of a style popular in England and the Low
countries. The blade is marked “Sahagvn” in the fuller, likely referencing Alonzo de Sahagun, the famous bladesmith of Toledo.
The grip is bound in wire with turks heads top and bottom. The elegant hilt has a guard composed of two very fine pierced mesh plates. The holes are on average 2.5mm in size. A fluted pommel is attached to end of the knuckle bow via a screw.
