Asset Overview
Statue of Saint Vincent Ferrer in Waidhofen an der Thaya. The saint holds up his right hand to swear, the left hand presses his heart. Next to him a putto and a baptismal font. The monument dates from the 1st half of the 18th century.
Vincent Ferrer (1350-1419) was a Valencian Dominican friar and preacher. Ferrer was canonised by Calixtus III in 1455, and his day of commemoration in the Catholic Church is 5 April. He is the patron saint of the cities of Valencia and San Vicente del Raspeig in southern Spain, which is named after him.
