Asset Overview

Scaled model of shallow water wreck of the "Flora", Northport Michigan. This wreck is an example of an early 20th century fishing vessel used in the Grand Traverse Bay region of Michigan. This is believed to be the remains of the Flora a vessel owned by William Hopkins that sank between 1940 and 1950. In the 1950s-1960s it was popular for teens to swim out to the wreck which sits in 12 feet of water and try to pry pieces off of it as trophies. Model made 7.9.16 using 492 pictures. Holes represent shadows cast by the wreck on the lakebed.
