An incomplete copper alloy dagger scabbard chape dating to the late Medieval date to early Post Medieval period (c. AD 1400 - 1600).
The object is formed from a sheet of copper alloy, rolled over to form a narrow, tapering tube. Where the ends of the rolled sheet of alloy meet they are overlapped and there is a single, longitudinal seam. The metal is folded in at the base. The opening at the top end is cracked and fragmented. The metal sheet is 0.9 mm thick. No decoration is visible.
