An incomplete enamelled copper alloy Headstud style brooch, of Roman dating (AD 75 - AD 200).
Approximately 95% of the brooch is present consisting of the bow, wings, foot, pin and hinge. The headloop, pin and catch plate are incomplete.
In plan, the brooch is almost T-shaped, and rectangular in cross section. The bow head is angular (comma shaped) in profile. The headloop at the top of the brooch is incomplete, and is circular in nature. The bow is decorated by a circular decorative headstud, comprising two concentric circles. Below the headstud, the bow has been decorated by a column of lozenges running vertically down the bow. Traces of blue enamel are present within the recessed cells. Two horizontal ribs are present at the base of the bow, just above the foot. The wings have been decorated with a vertical rouletted rib.
