Hopper Dredger MV "Crane" (1972)

I spotted MV Crane in our Harbour and immediatly knew I had to model her, met with the authorities and acuired the plans, visited the ship many times and took around 400 shots. The Model took around a month to complete in April 2011 for VSF, I also built a fully functional 1.3m RC model of her after. The MV "CRANE" is a hopper dredge operated by Transnet Dredging, in South Africa. She was built in 1972, in the Netherlands. Length overall : 53.78m (176.443 ft) Breadth : 11.877m Dredge grab depth : 14m Maximum Draught line : 3m Hopper capacity : 400m3 Loaded displacement : 1176 ton Speed Loaded : 9 knots Engines : 1194 KW (1600 HP) Unladen displacement : 693 tons
