Asset Overview

One of the tests conducted at the Digital Archaeology Lab lately was to create a model of the same metal tin using every application that we had at our disposal, so as to have comparative data. We wanted to use a metal object with lots of text and patterning, because we thought it would be a good way to put applications through their paces in a different way than the ironstone sherd did. This particular model was made using Scaniverse, an iPad application that uses LiDar to create 3D models. The tin itself is a tasty imported Portuguese snack of sardines in a spicy tomato sauce. The company, Bom Petisco, factory sits on São Miguel in the Azores islands of Portugal and has been there since 1962, a reflection of the changing migratory fish routes that took place after over-fishing occured along the Algarvian coast. The word *petisco* means "small dish" or "snack" in Portuguese.
