Considered to be one of the most biodiversity-rich, and geographically unique areas within the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor, Bladen, at roughly 100,000 acres, forms a significant portion of the Maya Mountains Massif.
Largely protected from hurricanes, Bladen for the most part is comprised of rare, old growth tropical broadleaf forest which supports 20 intact ecosystem types and high species diversity across a great range of elevations.
