This public-private partnership model between the Peruvian government and Amazon Conservation has now been implemented in other forests around the world, but Los Amigos remains unique in its value and biodiversity abundance. Los Amigos Conservation Hub is located in lowland Amazonian forest at the base of Peru’s southern Andes, within the Los Amigos Conservation Concession -- the world's first private conservation concession in the world. Located in the Los Amigos River watershed in the department of Madre de Dios in southwestern Peru, the 360,000-acre concession borders the world-famous Manu National Park.
